The Flash may be Barry Allen’s first solo movie, but it is also a major crossover event with key repercussions for the DC Universe’s future. Even without considering that The Flash might wrap up the current DCEU, the Andy Muschietti film is shaping up to be DC’s biggest movie yet – at least in terms of the scale. The return of Man of Steel’s villains and Ben Affleck’s Batman, the debut of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, the existence of two Barry Allens, and Michael Keaton’s Batman comeback makes The Flash feel bolder than even Justice League.
Recent DCEU movies have lacked an epic sense of scale that is often associated with the DC characters, something that The Flash appears to be fixing. While that big scale can lead to a more expensive film, it also allows the movie to portray characters like the Flash or Supergirl in a way that does justice to their comic book powers. The Flash has all the tools to be a visual spectacle.
